ASSAM ACT III OF 1942 THE ASSAM (TEMPORARILY SETTLED DISTRICTS) TENANCY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1942. [ Received the assent of the Governor on the 25th March 1942] [Published in the Assam Gazette of the 1st April 1942] An Act to amend the Assam (Temporarily Settled Districts) Tenancy Act, 1935 Preamble. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Assam Assam Act, (Temporarily Settled Districts) Tenancy Act, III of 1935. 1935, in the manner hereinafter appearing ; AND WHEREAS the Governor of Assam. has assumed to himself under the Proclamation dated the 25th December 1941 issued by him under 26 Geo. 5, section 93 of the Government of India Act, Ch. 2. 1935, all powers vested by or under the said Act in the Provincial Legislature ; Now, therefore, in exercise of the said powers, the Governor of Assam is pleased to make the following Act :- Short title, 1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam (Temporarily Settled Districts) Tenancy (Amend- extent and commence- ment) Act, 1942. ment. In section 80 of the said Act- (i) for clause (a) the following shall be substituted, namely- "(a) the name of each tenant" ; [ Price 4 annas or 5.] (ii) (1) for the word "raiyat" in clause (b) the word "tenant" shall be substituted ; (2) for the word "raiyats" in clause (c) the word "tenants" shall be substituted ; (3) for the word "raiyal's"' in clause (d) the word "tenant's" shall be substituted. Amendment 5.
