XII OF 1995 (Received the assent of the Governor on 21st April, 1995) THE GUWAHATI MUNICIPAL CORPORATION (AMENDMENT) NO. 1 ACT, 1995 AN ACT further to amend the Guwahati Municipal Assam Act I Corporation Act, 1969. of 1973 Preamble. Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Act, 1969, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act ; 121 T It is hereby enacted in the Forty- sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows :- Short title. I. (1) This Act, may be called the extent and commence- Guwahati Municipal Corporation (Amend- ment. ment) Act, 1995. (2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 26th day of October, 1993.

Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Act, 1969, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act ; 121 T It is hereby enacted in the Forty- sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows :- Short title. In the principal Act, in Section 425, of Section in sub-section (1), in the first paragraph, Amendment 425 of Assame ActI of 1973.for the words, "to be dissolved for a period not exceeding six months", the following shall be substituted, namely :- "to be superseded for a period not exceeding twelve years and six months, provided that after the first constitution of the Corporation, the State Government may dissolve the Corporation during the period of tenure and such period of dissolution shall not exceed six months." dig Code THE ASSAM GAZETTE, EXTRAORDINARY, APR.
21, 1995 535 Repeal and Savings. 3. (1) The Guwahati Municipal Cor-Assam Ordi- poration (Second Amendment) Ordinance, of 19 94. nance No. X 1994 is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the Ordinance so repealed shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provisions of this Act as if this Act had commenced on the 26th day of October, 1994.
