ASSAM ACT XXI OF 1968 (Received the assent of the Governor on the 12th November 1968) THE GAUHATI UNIVERSITY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1968 [Published in the Assam Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 21st November, 1968 ] further to amend the Gauhati University Act, 1947 Preamble Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Gau- Assam Act hati University Act, 1947 hereinafter called the 1947. XVI of principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing : It is hereby enacted in the Nineteenth Year of the Republic of India as follows : - Short title 1. (1) This Act may be called the Gauhati Uni- and com. versity (Amendment) Act, 1968. mencement. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the official Gazette appoint. Amendment 2. In sub-section (2) of section 80 and sub- of section section (1) of section 8D of the principal Act, the 8C and 8D words "for a second term only" shall be deleted of Assam Act XVI of 1947.
