THE ASSAM GAZETTE, EXTRAORDINARY, OCT. 27, 1976 613 Repeal and 18. (1) The Assam Public Premises (Eviction of Assam Ordinance saving. Unauthorised Occupants) Ordinance, 1971 is here- II of 1971. by repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the Assam Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Ordinance, 1971, shall be deemed to have been done or taken under this Act as if this Act had commenced on the eighth day of February, 1971 (the date of promulgation of the Ordinance). ASSAM ACT XXI OF 1976 (Received the assent of the Governor on the 20th October, 1976) THE GAUHATI UNIVERSITY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1976 An Act further to amend the Gauhati University Act, 1947 Preamble. Whereas it is expedient to amend the Assam Act Gauhati University Act, 1947, hereinafter called 1947. XVI of the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing ; It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows :- Short title, 1. (1) This Act -may be called the Gauhati *University (Amendment) Act, 1976. extent and commenc- ment. 614 THE ASSAM GAZETTE, EXTRAORDINARY, OCT :. 27, 1976 (2) It shall have like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall come into force at once. Amendment of Section 2 of Assam Act XVI of 1947.
