Preamble. Whereas it is expedient further to Central amend the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961, Act 53 hereinafter called the principal Act, in of 1961 its application to the State of Assam, in the manner hereinafter appearing ; It is hereby enacted in the Thirty- fourth Year of the Republic of India as follows : --- 's de extent and commence- Short title, 1. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. of section 5 of Central Act 53 of 1961 (as amended by Assam Act XII of 1964). Amendment 2. In the explanation appended to sub- section (1) of section 5 of the princi- pal Act, as amended by the Assam Act XII of 1964, the word "six" ap- pearing after the words "multiplied by" shall be substituted by the word "seven".
