The 10th August 1964 No.LJL.20/64/11 .- The following Act of the Assam Legislative Assembly which received the assent of the President, is hereby published for general information. (Received the assent of the President on the 5th August 1964) ASSAM ACT XIX OF 1964 THE MINIMUM WAGES (ASSAM AMENDMENT) ACT, 1964 [Published in the Assam Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 11th August 1964] An Act to a mend the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 in its application to the State of Assam. Preamble. Whereas it is expedient to amend the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 (hereinafter referred to as the said Central Act), in its application to the State of Assam, for the Act XI of 1948, Purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing ; It is hereby enacted in the Fifteenth Year of the Republic of India as follows :- Short title, 1.(1) This Act may be called the Minimum Wages (Assam Amendment) Act, 1964, extent . and commence- ment. (2) It extends to the whole of Assam. (3) It shall come into force at once. IndiaCode Amendment 2. In Section 5 of the said Act, at the end of of section 5 clause (a) of sub-section (1), for the comma and the of Central word "or" after the word "be", a colon shall be sub- Act No.XI of 1948. stituted and the following proviso shall be added, namely :- "Provided the committees and sub-committees as so appointed may advise the appro- priate Government in respect of fixation of wages on interim measure after holding such preliminary enquiries as the commit- tee or the sub-committee, as the case may be, considers necessary in this behalf and the appropriate Government after considering such advice may fix the wages pending the fixation of the minimum rate of wages as required under sub-section (2) or".
