NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 29th January, 2010

S.O. 203(E).- - Whereas the Government of lndia,in the Ministry of Water Resources vide its notification number

S.O. 169(E), dated the 2nd April, 1986, constituted the Ravi and Beas Waters Tribunal for verification and adjudication of certain matters referred therein, and the said Tribunal forwarded its report to the Central Government on 30th January, 1987;

And whereas, further references have been made by the Central Government to the said Tribunal on 19th August, 1987 requiring explanation and guidance on the report aforesaid;

And whereas, considering the enormous exercise undertaken by the said Tribunal in completing its further report, the Central Government extended the period of making the said report, from time to time, till the 5th February, 2010;

And whereas, the Central Government, keeping in view the exigencies of the work involved, as pointed out by the said Tribunal, considers it necessary to extend the said period for another six months after the 5th February, 2010;

Now therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-section (3) of Section 5 of the Inter- State River Water Disputes Act, 1956 (33 of 1956), the Central Government hereby further extends the period, within which the Tribunal may forward its report on the references so made, to the Central Government till the 5th day of August, 2010, and for that purpose makes the following further amendment in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Water Resources number

S.O. 905(E), dated the 5th August, 2003, namely:— In the said notification, in the last paragraph, for the words, figures and letters "till the 5th day of February, 2010", the words, figures and letters "till the 5th day of August, 2010" shall be substituted.
