THE BURDWAN UNIVERSITY (AMENDMENT)
ACT, 1970.
[Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Calcutta Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 12th February, 1970.] [12th February, 1970.] An Act to amend the Burdwan University Act, 1959.
WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Burdwan University Act, 1959, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing ; - It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-first Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:-
1. This Act may be called the Burdwan University Short cAmendment) Act, 1970.
2. In section 16 of the Burdwan University Act, 1959,— Amend. ment of seon CO in sub-section (2), for the words "the University may, of ctiWest 6 subject to the approval of the Chancellor, appoint Ben. (2) in sub-section (3), for the words beginning with the words "the Chancellor shall" and ending with the words "of the Vice-Chancellor", the following shall be substituted, namely : — "the Chancellor in consultation with the Minister shall, until a new Vice-Chancellor is appointed under sub-section 1), authorise any person to exercise the powers and perform the duties of the Vice- Chancellor".

3. (1) The Burdwan University (Amendment) Ordinance, 1969, is hereby repealed.
(2) Anything done or any action taken under the Burdwan University Act, 1959, as amended by the Burdwan University (Amendment) Ordinance, 1969, shall be deemed to have been validly done or taken under the said Act as amended by this Act as if this Act had commenced on the 3rd day of October, Repeal and savings.
