Preamble

THE TAMILNADU SHOPS AND ESTABLISHMENTS ACT, 1947 (ACT XXXVI OF 1947) [Received the assent of the Governor General on 2nd February, 1948, first published in the Fort St. George Gazette on the 10th February, 1948] An Act to provide for the regulation of conditions of work in shops, commercial establishments, restaurants, theatres and other establishments, and for certain other purposes. WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the regulation of conditions of work in shops, commercial establishments and for certain other purposes; it is hereby enacted as follows:
