Section 220 of the Assam Municipal Corporation Act, 2022. The Commissioner may, if he thinks fit, by notice, in writing, require the owner or the occupier of any land in the Municipal Corporation area on which trees, shrubs or hedges are growing to keep such trees, shrubs or hedges in a trim condition, and remove any such tree, shrub or hedge, if it obstru

(1) The Commissioner may, if he thinks fit, by notice, in writing, require the owner or the occupier of any land in the Municipal Corporation area on which trees, shrubs or hedges are growing to keep such trees, shrubs or hedges in a trim condition, and remove any such tree, shrub or hedge, if it obstructs traffic on any street or poses a danger to public safety or overhangs any street causing inconvenience or danger to the passers-by. If it appears to the Commissioner that immediate action is necessary for public safety, he may, without notice, cause such tree, shrub or hedge to be removed from the land as aforesaid and the expenses thereof shall be paid by the owner or the occupier of such land.
