1[18. Failure to amend after Order.-- If a party who has obtained an order for leave to amend does not amend accordingly within the time limited for that purpose by the order, or if no time is thereby limited then within fourteen days from the date of the order, he shall not be permitted to amend after the expiration of such limited time as aforesaid or of such fourteen days, as the case may be, unless the time is extended by the Court.]

1. Subs. by Act 22 of 2002, s. 7, for rules 17 and 18 (w.e.f. 1-7-2002).

How this Rule is cited

It is written both ways, and both mean this Rule: Order VI Rule 18 CPC and Order 6 Rule 18 CPC. Pleadings usually take the arabic form, judgments usually the numeral.

Orders of the courts under it: Order 6 Rule 18 CPC, Order VI Rule 18 CPC. Each opens the full-text search over every order eCourtsIndia holds.

This Order may be one Rule short. India Code publishes the Rules of the First Schedule without recording which Order each one belongs to. We recover that from the Government's own consolidated text of the Code, and for this Order one Rule did not settle beyond doubt. Rather than print it under an Order it might not belong to, it is left out and this note put in its place. Everything shown here is where the Code puts it.
