(1) The Highway Authority or the officer authorised by it may also require any such person to make or deliver to it or him at a time not being earlier than fifteen days after the date of the requisition, a statement containing, as far as may be practicable, the name of every other person possessing any interest in the land or in any part thereof, or, as the case may be, in any right or interest in land to be extinguished as co-proprietor, sub-proprietor, mortgagee, tenant or otherwise, and of the nature of such interest, and of the rents and profits, if any received or receivable on account thereof in respect of three years next preceding the date of such statement.
(2) Every person required to make or deliver a statement under this section or under section 17 shall be deemed to be legally bound to do so Central Act within the meaning of section 175 and 176 of the Indian Penal Code. 45 of 1860
