Section 25 of the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 deals with appointments. All appointments on the staff of any Institute, except that of the Director, shall be made in accordance with the procedure laid down in the Statutes, by-- (a) the Board, if the appointment is made on the academic staff in the post of Lecturer or above or if the appointment is made on the non-academ The Act came into force on 01 Apr 1962.

All appointments on the staff of any Institute, except that of the Director, shall be made in accordance with the procedure laid down in the Statutes, by--

(a) the Board, if the appointment is made on the academic staff in the post of Lecturer or above or if the appointment is made on the non-academic staff in any cadre the maximum of the pay-scale for which exceeds six hundred rupees per month;

(b) by the Director, in any other case.
