Questions about Section 28

What does Section 28 of the Right to Information deal with?

Section 28 of the Right to Information is headed "Power to make rules by competent authority". The competent authority may, by notification in the Official Gazette, make rules to carry out the provisions of this Act.

How do I find court cases under Section 28 of the Right to Information?

In judgments and charge sheets this section is written several ways, and each form finds a different set of orders. These search the full text of every order eCourtsIndia holds, best matches first: Right Information 28, section 28 Right Information, section 28 of the Right to Information. Each opens the full list of orders on eCourtsIndia, where it can be narrowed by court, year and outcome.

What should I read with Section 28 of the Right to Information, and has it changed?

Its own text turns on section 4 (Obligations of public authorities), section 6 (Request for obtaining information), section 7 (Disposal of request), so none of them can safely be read on its own. 1 other provision in this corpus refers back to it. The rules and notifications made under it are where it actually bites, and there is one: most recently The Uttarakhand High court right to information rules (2009).

When was the Right to Information enacted?

Right to Information was enacted in 2005 as Act 22 of 2005. India Code records no commencement date for it. It is in force as at the date shown on this page.
