NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 22nd December, 2017

G.S.R. 1588(E).—Whereas the draft rules further to amend the Insecticides Rules, 1971, which the Central Government proposes to make in exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 of the Insecticides Act, 1968 (46 of 1968) was published in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (Department of Agriculture, Co-operation and Farmers Welfare) vide

G.S.R. 1317 (E), dated the 17 th October, 2017 in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-II, Section-3, Sub-section (i), dated the 21st October, 2017, inviting objections or suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby, before the expiry of the period of thirty days from the date on which the copies of the Gazette containing the said notification were made available to the public; And whereas, copies of the said Gazette notification were made available to the public on the 21st October, And whereas, objections or suggestions received from the public were duly considered in respect of the said notification;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 of the Insecticides Act, 1968 (46 of 1968), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules, further to amend the Insecticides Rules, 1971, namely :-

1. Short title and commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Insecticides (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2017.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Insecticides rules, 1971, for rule 45, the following rule shall be substituted, namely:- “45. Places at which the insecticides may be imported. - No insecticides shall be imported into India except through one of the following places, namely: -

(i) Inland Container Depot, Gurugram (Gurgaon), Haryana,

(ii) Chennai Port, Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Mumbai Port (Mumbai), in respect of insecticides imported by sea into India,

(iii) Chennai International Airport (Chennai), Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai), Indira Gandhi International Airport (New Delhi), in respect of insecticides imported by air into India”. [F. No. 19-7/2006 PP-I] ASHWANI KUMAR, Jt. Secy.
